Andes Rail Trail Bullet Hole Spur – Andes

In its short distance, the trail manages to take the hiker through several different quintessential Catskill environments, open fields, mature hardwood and hemlock forests, a fern glade, and magnificent rock outcroppings. 2.2 miles- in addition to the 1.8-mile Rail Trail

Shavertown Trail – to the pond – Andes

Moderately strenuous hike to a spectacular view of a lovely pond, the Pepacton Reservoir and distance mountains. Beautiful wildflowers in season. 2 miles

 Shavertown Trail – full trail – Andes

After the moderately strenuous hike to the pond, the trail levels out considerably and winds through fantastic rock outcroppings, evergreen and hardwood forest. 5.3 miles, including to the pond section and a loop around the pond.

Delhi Hiking Trails

The Delhi hiking trails consist of over four miles of hiking trails, named for beloved characters in the classic 1959 children’s novel My Side of Mountain which was set in Delhi. Over four miles of intersecting trails have been constructed. The Gribley Trail is a 3.08 mile route that starts at the Sheldon Park Trailhead on Sheldon Drive in downtown Delhi. After a steep climb the trail passes through varied vegetation, offering views of the village, then descends to meet the Bulldog Run trail and ends at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Trailhead.

The Bulldog Run Trail meanders the mountain side in a 2.39 mile loop, starting and ending at the Immanuel Lutheran Church Trailhead. Frightful’s Fall Trail, 0.36 miles, connects Bulldog Run to the highest point of the Gribley Trail.

Fleischmanns

Start at the entrance of the Village Ball Park and  proceed down Wagner Avenue towards Depot Street. Turn right on Depot Street and then left on Old Route 28 or lower Main Street. Walk approximately 3/10 of a mile and turn onto Takanassee Road. Caution- this is a partial dirt road and all uphill. Proceed up the road to the end, circle back and return to the starting point. This is a great cardio hike. The road starts out as a dirt road but changes to a paved road. The road is rarely traveled and is a great workout! (Make sure you have water). 2.2 hard miles

Hamden

West Branch Preserve. Located on St Rte 10 between Hamden and Walton, NY. From the parking lot a path leads uphill across a meadow to the woods and a sign-in box. There are two trails, a 0.7 mile trail marked in blue markers with a moderate ascent and a 2.0 mile marked in orange on an old logging road that has a steep climb and should be attempted only by experienced hikers.

Margaretville

Dry Brook Ridge Trail. The Dry Brook Ridge Trail is a 13.6 mile trail that travels from Margaretville to the Balsam Lake Mountain Parking Area. Trailhead access for Dry Brook Ridge is just outside Margaretville. Take Route 28 at Margaretville, turn south at the Agway Farm Store and take the first left (which is a dead end). Follow this road for .15 mile to the start of the trail on the right. The trail starts on an old logging road uphill. Click here for map

Stamford

Mount Utsayantha. Located on Tower Road in Stamford, NY. 2 miles of hiking trails, 360 degree views from the Mount Utsayantha, Fire Tower.

 

Walton

Bear Spring Mountain. Route 206 between Downsville, NY and Walton, NY.

Miles of horse trails along two ridges are used for hiking, hunting, and mountain bikes. Varies routes are available from which to choose.
