Delaware County Cancer Coalition

"THERE'S ROOM TO BLOOM THROUGH QUILTING" PROJECTCornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County has been working with the Delaware County Cancer Coalition to educate the public on cancer awareness and screening through quilting. This year Cornell Cooperative Extension Executive Director Jeanne Darling is offering quilters and the public another opportunity to participate in a quilting project to support cancer education and screening.
This year’s County Fair quilt project will encourage quilters and the public to get involved in quilting because “There’s Room to Bloom Through Quilting.” We would like to display quilt projects this year at the Delaware County Fair that you have been especially proud to create and have given you “Room to Bloom” your quilting skills! The County Fair this year will feature The People’s Garden Project and growing food at local schools as partof the USDA/Cornell Research Project.
To participate in “There’s Room to Bloom Through Quilting”project, each individual or group is asked to complete a wall hanging or mini-quilt by Friday, July 20, 2012. The quilted projects will be displayed at the Delaware County Fair August 13-18, 2012 and may be available for bid. Quilt projects bid money will be donated to Relay for Life. Quilters can also volunteer to do quilting demonstrations at the Delaware County Fair.
