INTERNATIONAL PROGRAM - PASSPORT TO FUN - 4-H GOES
Each Spring 4-H hosts an International Program, Passport to Fun. Each club picks one country they are interested in exploring. The club should bring food (any kind) that is representative of their country to share as samples with the other participants, as well as do both of the following:
1. Plan a game or craft (that can be shared to teach everyone in the group) that is part of the countries culture they chose to explore. There is a new book in the 4-H office called Multicultural Games that you can borrow for ideas or we will send you a copy on the section of your chosen country OR actively display the ethnic diversity of your country through song, dance, language, socialization, history, geography or economics. You can compare your country to the United States, if you like. If your group gets really creative, you can also wear that country’s national costume.
2. Put together a display of artifacts that depict the culture of the country your group chose to represent. This could be flags, musical instruments, posters, clothing, pieces of art, photographs or postcards. Be ready to explain what you learned to the rest of the participants. A 4 foot wide table area will be assigned to each club for items to be displayed. Sign-ups are mandatory so that we can plan a space for everyone to set up their exhibit. Contact the 4-H Office with any questions. Lets make this a family affair. Bring your family and friends for this evening of fun and discovery!
PRESENTER NEEDED FOR 4-H INTERNATIONAL NIGHT - Do you know someone who is from another country or has traveled to another country? Would that person like to share information about that country with 4-H? The 4-H program, Passport to Fun-4-H Goes Global, will take place in March at 4-H Camp Shankitunk and I am looking for someone who would like to do a half hour presentation on another country. If you are that person or know someone, please contact the 4-H office.
